Frequently Asked Questions
Got Questions? We are here to help!
Navigating dog training can feel overwhelming, but finding the right help shouldn't be.
How does positive reinforcement work?
Positive reinforcement works by rewarding behaviors we want to see more of. By using treats, toys, or praise immediately after a good choice, your dog learns that listening is fun and rewarding, building a stronger bond based on trust rather than fear.
What areas around Ames do you serve?
We provide in-person training services within Ames and surrounding Story County communities, including Gilbert, Story City, Nevada, Huxley, Cambridge, and Maxwell, as well as Bondurant and Ankeny.
What should I expect in our first Private Training
session?
Our first session is all about assessment and foundations. We'll discuss your goals, observe your dog's current behaviors, and start implementing immediate, fun training games that you can practice right away.
How soon will I see results?
Many owners see subtle changes after just the first session! Consistency is key, and by playing our training games daily, you'll see reliable and lasting improvements in your dog's behavior over just a few weeks of practice.
Do you work with both puppies and adult dogs?
What is your cancellation policy?
For group class cancellations, to receive a full refund or transfer your enrollment to a future class, you must provide written notice at least 7 days before the first scheduled class session. Cancellations made fewer than 7 days before the class starts are completely non-refundable. We do not offer refunds, credits, or make-up classes for individual sessions missed by the client. If your dog is sick or injured but you are healthy, we strongly encourage you to attend class without your dog so you do not miss the homework and instruction.
For private session cancellations, you must cancel or reschedule your private appointment at least 24 hours before your scheduled start time. If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, or if you fail to show up for your appointment within 15 minutes of the start time, you forfeit the session. The full session fee will be charged.
For day training, to cancel or reschedule a day training reservation, you must notify the facility by 5:00 PM on the business day prior to your reservation. Cancellations made after this cutoff time will result in a late fee equal to the loss of one package credit.
If the we must cancel a session or class due to severe weather, facility issues, or instructor illness, we will notify you via text and email as early as possible. For group classes, a make-up week will be added to the end of the term. For private sessions and day training, you will receive a full credit to reschedule at your convenience.
